The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century with roots stretching back more than two thousand years.
So what is Reiki?
It is a natural healing energy that works on every level, not just the physical, and is understood to promote the body's regenerative self-healing ability.
Energy explained.
We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us and we experience a sense of well-being.
Is it part of a particular belief?
Reiki is a tradition that is open to any belief system. Research using animals and even bacteria suggests benefits for stress-based conditions. (this is energy healing and no experiments are performed on any animals to cause)
Can it replace other forms of treatment?
As a natural form of healing, Reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment.
It is important to note that you should not cease taking any current medication that has been prescribed for you without consulting your medical consultant (GP)
What can I expect from my treatment?
You will remain fully clothed at all times and lie down on a couch. The Reiki practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near your body. (you can ask not be to touched if your prefer). There is no massage or manipulation.
Reiki practitioners are NOT trained in diagnosis and will not offer any diagnosis or prognosis.
You may feel sensations such as heat, cold, tingling and pulsing during a Reiki treatment.
Benefits: deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well-being on all levels.
Who can benefit from Reiki?
Clients for Reiki can include children from tiny babies to teenagers, pregnant women, adults who are experiencing stress or illness, people looking for change in their lives and those at the end of life.
Reiki is also offered to animals, both domestic and equine.
